This weekend was the 25th anniversary of the K londike relay run. The run starts in Skagway and finishes in Whitehorse. There are 10 legs, and I ran leg 3. It's called the Princess leg because it has no big hills, but its still a challenge at 12.5 km. I started at 1130pm and finished at about 1am. I definitley wore too much clothes!
It was foggy and raining and very dark. My support car met me when they could and gave me water..and took the layers I was peeling off.
There were times when I was completley alone, and the fog was rolling in. I wanted to cry several times because I was so happy...or maybe I was delirious! Who knows...but the though of doing this relay in ALASKA and where I am in my life was overwhelming.
Leg 3 ends just a little past the Canadian Border crossing and I could hear people yelling and cheering. I thought I had no reserve of energy, but I motored it. I was a little sore, but nothing a hot bath and a glass of wine at 3am couldn't fix!
